A practical example

Finally I want to show you my experiment as a German teacher to use using the program Camtasia to create my own ICT material.

Introduction to the video:
Internalizing the use of “separable and inseparable verbs” (trennbare und nicht-trennbare Verben) in the German language seems a big step for a lot of German students. There are some mental steps the student has to go under, to be able to use them in an effective way. The verb is in the center of the attention in the German language acquisition. The student has to learn with this topic to distinguish verbs and to identify them in sentences in order to use them correctly in oral or written production. The separable verb consists of two parts: a basic verb and a prefix. This prefix specifies the activity and also the meaning. If we want to make a sentence with a separable verb, we have to separate it in its two parts. The prefix has to go at the end of the sentence whereas the verb has to stand normally conjugated in the second position. One of the typical problems with this grammar feature is the recognition of the principal verb of the sentence in the comprehension skills. Another problem is the oral and written production which requires a lot of practice.

I hope this example encouraged you to create something special for your students!
